Currently running the following, EVGA 780i with 2 GTX 260 core 216's, 4 gigs of 1066 ram DDR2, Q6660 Quad OC'd to 3.0.

I originally paired the build with a 22 inch monitor, i have since moved on to a 23 inch pushing the rez from the 1600's to the 1900's. The 260's are starting to show there lack of power at that rez can i get away with throwing a single GTX 580 into the rig or will my cpu bottleneck it terribly? If so would pushing it to 3.4 negate that problem?

Thanks ahead of time.

I don't think the CPU will bottleneck on the 580. I'd say wait, though, cuz the next round of graphics cards are coming soon.

The 680 would be a better choice though having PCIe 3.0 would help a bit too

The 680s are out BTW
Though if you are lucky a BIOS update might get you PCIe 3.0.
Looking at your board looks like you have PCIe 1.0 with 2.0 capability.

Don't have the funding to support a whole new build, was looking to throw a graphics card in there i can use in the next build to replace the current 260 GTX sli.
