Maximum PC

I've never built a PC before, I decided to have a friend that knows how to build computers build me one. I am a firm believer in "trust but verify" so I just want to make sure I'm getting the best for my money and that when it all comes in it should be compatible. I'll be having another friend help me out with the actual building.

You could tone down the PSU a bit to about 800W and save some money. But the rest is okay. The reason why I say this, if you're going on the video card box's "power supply requirement", they're assuming the worst case scenario (fully loaded system). A system like this with just one video card I can't see drawing more than 250W on full load. Adding another video card would just increase it to about 400W at worst case.

Also if you're thinking about getting 16GB of RAM, you might want to reconsider. Only because if you're primary high-performance programs are games, you won't need more than even 4GB. 8GB is good enough for a while and I don't see this changing ever until video game devs start doing 64-bit executables. And if you want a reason for this, practically all games are 32-bit still. In Windows, 32-bit programs in a 64-bit environment default to having only 2GB of user space available to them. Some games are built so they can go all the way to 4GB (like Skyrim). But otherwise, since you can expect no more than 2GB of use, there's little point to adding more RAM past even 4GB. But 6GB-8GB makes for a nice comfort zone.
