I was looking into building a pc from the ground up, and I was looking to build a decent one for as little as possible, but not having to upgrade soon. Here is what I'm looking at.

Case: NZXT Crafted Series Phantom Black / Green
CPU: Core i5 2450P*
RAM: Patriot Gamer 2 Series 2 x 4GB 1600
Mobo: ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3
Cooler: COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 Plus
HDD: Seagate Barracuda ST1000DM003 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA III
SSD: Patriot Pyro PP60GS25SSDR 2.5" 60GB SATA III MLC
GPU: SAPPHIRE 11201-02-20G Radeon HD 7770 GHz Edition 1GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16*
Sound: ASUS Xonar D1 7.1 Channels 24-bit 192KHz
PSU: Antec High Current Gamer Series HCG-750 750W ATX12V v2.3 / EPS12V v2.91 CrossFire Certified 80 PLUS BRONZE

The main reason of this post is because I've done extensive research into these parts except the asterisked components. Is the i5 2450P overclockable, and if so, would it be an acceptable replacement to the i5 2500K? As for the GPU I was originally looking at the XFX HD Radeon HD 6870 2GB. But if I can use the 7770 in crossfire x mode I would just get 2 of them so when Ivybridge finally drops I could just upgrade my cpu and get all that pci-e 3.0 goodness. I can't find anything online about the new core i5's or a substantial review of the 7770 so any help on those would be so greatly appreciated.

I think the 2450P is just a lower clocked regular 2500 without the integrated GPU. So chances are, you can't overclock it like you can the 2500K.

EDIT: Actually yeah, Wikiepdia says the P series is just without the integrated GPU. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_In ... 2832_nm.29 ). If you want overclocking potential, K series.

Although I found out I could bump up the multiplier in my computer from 33x to 34x, which has a regular 2500. I haven't confirmed or denied that it actually did anything.

Wait for Ivy Bridge which comes out in less than a month.
