Maximum PC

Just build my first computer and its great. everything when smooth and everything works how it should. ony thing id like to change is my OS is saved to my SSD and it is my C: but my HDD is my D:. everything keeps getting saved to my C: automatically. How can i set my D: to the defualt drive for everything. i dont want to even touch my D:

Do you mean the downloads/documents/music folder? You can right click on a system folder then there should be a tab labeled location, just change the location to D:/WHATEVER and it will go there instead. If you are talking about programs you need to change the install directory when you are installing them, you may have to select advanced or custom install though.

If you're using Windows 7, usually everything defaults to the Library. If you go to a particular library, there's a "link" on top for managing folders. Add the folder in D:\ you want that Library to point to, set it as the default save location, then remove the other folders. Since everything usually defaults to the library, it'll default to the folder you pointed to in D:\

Alternatively, but it may be too late in the game, you could move your entire Users folder using robocopy to D:\, then make a symlink in C:\ called Users that points to D:\Users. You can't move the Users folder when in Windows, is the problem (because if you're logged in at all, the Users folder is in use). You have to do it from the Recovery Console.

I generally just move my documents, music, downloads, etc. You just have to right click on the folder and change the location.
