I'm looking for parts to do a build. So far I have the following list for the guy I'm building for. He wants everything to be up-to-date and he plays games but he is not a serious gamer.

    MB: SOLTEK SL-K890Pro-939
    CPU: Athlon 64 3000+
Video: MSI ATI RADEON X600 XT
    Sound: Audigy 2 Value
    DVD: HP DVD640I (with lightscribe)
    CD-RW:

Anyone have suggestions for the following or alternatives for the above list?

    PSU
    RAM (want 2x 512 DDR 400)

Thanks!

I would take out the Audigy 2 Value and let your friend try the onboard first. If it sucks, get him the card. If not, you saved him some $60 (so maybe he can splurge on a much better videocard or processor).

The RAM he can go with ValueRAM offered by Cosair or Crucial.

PSU go with something @ 400watts. Try looking at Enermax, Thermaltake, Antec.

Any plans to get a new hard drive? Or use the old one from the current system?
