My friend is looking to build a system for $1000. I have read the thread below and used that to put together the following. (he is reusing his old case, monitor, keyboard/mouse)

http://secure.newegg.com/app/WishHistoryReview.asp?position=HISTORY&submit=VIEW&ID=1382747

Any critisim and/or advice would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks in advance :D

Your motherboard and processor aren't compatible.

Mobo uses Socket 939.
Processor listed is Socket 754.

You can use this one.

What Size is his PSU if it is not at least 400w will probably need a new one other than that (and what SuperChips posted ) looks good

For about $20-30 more, you can get a MaxDiamond 10 250GB drive which has a 16MB buffer.

Again with a PSU that is above 400watts. Look into an Enermax.

Get the 3200+ that has the Winchester core (90nm). Gives off less heat than the Newcastle, and the price is about the same.

That's what I had linked him.

Please fully read the posts, and the attendant links. Thanks.

Wasted that much time to denounce a second recommendation for that product? Strange. Sorry for making the same recommendation and giving an explanation of why it's a better product.
