Has anybody on this forum build or own a SLI pc? The thing is I want to find out if using two GPU like the 6800 Geforce improves the overall viewing on monitors at high resolutions like 1600x1200. Probably need a powerful cpu like FX55 AMD chip. Want to know whether SLI is just for gaming or multitask
like video editing, movie viewing and simple apps.Think of building one in the future.

Just for 3D gaming. The overhead of SLI probably slows everything else down.

Hmmm building a SLI pc just for intense gaming seems a tad expensive, I mean hell I want to go all out in building a kick ass pc, but gaming isn't just my priorty, I want it to be both a workstation, entertainment and gaming in one pc. Guess it's back to the drawing board for me.

I just finished reviewing the DFI NF4 SLI-DR motherboard.....and it kicks ass, best motherboard I've ever used (once you get past a hugely customizable BIOS). Something I noticed is a drop in CPU scores across the board when using SLI. while the Graphics scores were a lot higher in applications that support SLI, the CPU score were down anywhere from 1-4%. I'm not as high on SLI as alot of people....I see it as a trendy thing for the people who have to have the best. If you don't do a lot of graphics intensive gaming I'd recommend the best card you can afford, both NVidia and ATI will be releasing high end 512MB cards very shortly.
