I have two differnent options, I can either keep my current system barton 3200+ 1 gb 3200 ram. And upgrade my video card from a Radeon 9600 pro to a Geforce 6800. Or i could get a amd 64 3200, new mobo and a geforce 6600 gt pci express. Is it worth spending a couple hundered more for a new system? Please help!

You'll get varying opinions, but I would opt to stay with your current system and get the beefier video card. Your 3200+ Barton has plenty of life left in it still and a 6800nu would be a fine compliment. Worry about a platform upgrade when it starts to become long in the tooth.

If you spend money now on a 3200+ A64 and 6600GT PCI-E, you'll end up with a slower gaming system, have spent more money, and will need to spend even more to get it up to par with your less expensive upgrade option above.

I agree the video card is the best upgrade BUT everything seems to be going PCIe so a new AGP card (if thats what you would have to use in your current system) may force you to buy a new vid card when you do upgrade. I say save untill you can do the whole thing CPU Mobo and a good PCIe Video card JMO

i think your system is still good and its better spending your money on a 6800GT or something. there is still life in your system for a while.
