I'd like to see a round up of all these big nasty things up against the "normal" variants. The horrible creatures I'm speaking of are the things like the ThermalTake Sonic Tower , Asus Star Ice/TT beetle, TT Tower112, AeroCool DeepImpact and many of these other nasty trends in "Huge=Teh Cool". I'd like to have some "these things do in fact stink". I'm not buying them to test out, that's for sure.
In fact, ThermalTake has so many of these variants that it seems they're just running out of ideas or something. You'd think that if they had one that worked, they'd use it, then maybe a second as a budget piece. But they have about 12 of these creations just running around trying to find homes.
But when the simple designs like the Thermalright SP-94 or the orb design of the Zalman still kick major butt, how are these monsters being sold?? The person that buys that nasty beetle thinking it's L337 needs an injection of Arctic Silver straight into their forehead. I thought that CoolerMaster jet engine thing was too big...
I think a "King of the Crop" round up would be nice. The Zalman CNPS7700CU, ThermalRight XP-120, CoolerMaster Hyper6 for the new boys. Then, toss in some of the old favorites to see if they still hang in there. Like the Swiftech MCX and the ThermalRight SP-94 (if you can still find 'em). All that "stuff" out there is just fluff AFAIC. Lots of bark, no bite. Hell, throw one in there just to laugh at it
