Maximum PC

I have a new lab top with 512 ram a 2200+ athlon m processor, and a 60 g hd and well i was just woundering if its possible to oc the 2200+ without destroying it. Curious thats all. Anyone ever do it?

Me thinks a lame BIOS won't let you.

I have to go with OC on that one. Did you check your Bio's before you got all our hopes up? If it lets you I am sure you could squeeze a little more performance out of it, but not much.

laptop BIOS's are lame. they rarely even tell you what settings you have, let alone change them.

The only way to oc a laptop is to use software like CPUFSB or such...

Most Bios won't let you do anything, and the heat is not very good for the laptop.....

Depending on the HSF setup, you probably need to go in and throw some AS5 on it for a better chance at it.......

Or depending on the procc, you could do a HARDWIRE o/c... change the jumpers/bridges on the procc itself... get some conductive ink etc, and connect jumpers/bridges to get the desired results... but it would take some research on your part to find what the jumpers/bridges are etc..

I overclocked my laptops video card a while back to break a few MadOnion records. Worked like a charm and I didn't fry anything either, just had to take the right cooling precautions:

my sisters new compaq p4 doesnt even have a bios key, you have to use a windows program to change bios settings, which makes me laugh.

You can o/c it if you just do some research on the subject, and take some precautions...

No, I don't mean using a cold can of coke either!

I see 2 things wrong with the Coke Can Cooler (CCC).

1) Coke cunducts electricity...

2) The aluminum can ALSO conducts electricity

Now what would be interesting is to see someone making a Watercooling type solution using Coke. Imagine, the commercial starts with a guy using his computer and OCing like mad. Then his computer starts smoking... OH NO!!! He runs around frantically for a Coke. His monitor is blinking and everything. Then he finally finds a Coke and opens up a door on the top of his machine and this reveals "Coke Dispenser". He poors the whole can in there and the smoking stops and the computer returns to normal. You can hear a faint "ahhhhh" coming from the computer. Then the guy pats to computer. Then the announcer comes on and says "Ice Cold Coke, satisfying overclockers all over the world"

Yes, but it worked in my case because:

1. The can wasn't open

2. There's a large metal heatspreader on top of graphics chip that the can could easily sit sideways on top of.


I didn't kill the lappy either, in fact this post was written using it

besides those two obvious problems, the biggest of all is condensation, when you have something cold eventually when your not looking its gonna drip in your shit and afu the whole laptop.

That's why you check your heatspreader and make sure that it's got indentations where the water can drip.

But talking from experience, the can didn't get sweaty enough to drip water anywhere.
