Seems you can build one.... maybe...
its just a processor upgrade kit, notice how the processor is actually soldered to the board, its useless for anything outside of upgrading.

not sure how he did it. but my friend - a freshman in highschool- does professional graphics and video editing. he somehow put a G5 proc onto a standard PC board, and did some like custom modding or something. he dual boots OSX + XP + server 2003.

believe me. ive seen the computer itself. it has a G5 and its on an asus/msi board. ive seen all three OSes fly through everything they do. its pretty insane.

Ok I'll bite.. :roll:

How did he:
  • Get by the number of pins on the G5 proc. to fit in the zif socket.
  • Get by the Bios that is designed for a specific range of proc's.
  • Get by the Chipset designed for a specific range of proc's.
  • Get Windows to like (and work with) a piece of hardware not on it's HCL.
  • Get the G5 to like the majority of x86 hardware that is probably not compatable with Mac's in the first place (No device drivers).


Are you sure what you saw wasn't him running VMware or VirtualPC? Not doubting HS schools students know how or anything like that, but if there was one thing I remember about being a student (ecspecialy in HS) Was that money was always on short supply.

he does graphics editing for RedHat Linux. :| that tells you something. he has his own bisuness in making websites and such.


you are asking the wrong guy for all that stuff.

impossible, its just totally impossible. you may have seen it, but it was either a mod with a pc and mac in the same chassis or vmware, because windows cant run on the ppc architecture and osx cant run on the x86 architecture, its just impossible.

there are OS emulators but the physical side of it is.... un-heard of.
