Doesnt the asus deluxe have built in over clocking features. I should be able to oc my 53 to 55 specs- right? Ive never oc,ed before but it looks like the asus board makes it easy and reliable. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
With the FX-53, you can easily flip up the multiplier to mimic the FX-55's. A FX-53 processor has a stock multiplier of 12, while the FX-55 has a stock multiplier of 13. Change it to 13 and voila! Instant FX-53 @ 2.6GHz.
Alternatively, you can switch the FSB to 217MHz, but it would require high performance RAM and/or other complications.
In either case, you can dig through your BIOS to find the options. The Asus BIOS, I've heard, isn't lenient for overclockers, but I think it should be good enough to perform a multiplier switch. I recommend against the program as you're allowing software to control the speed of your processor - bad.
