I'm going to be picking up an AMD XP 3000+ and I want to OC the thing. I was wondering... is it worth buying an aftermarket heatsink for it or is the stock one that AMD gives you pretty decent? Also, if you recommend buying a new heatsink, which one would you suggest?

An XP 3000+ isn't going to have a lot of headroom in it, and an aftermarket hsf isn't likely to help. I'd recommend sticking with the stock until/if thermals prove to be the roadblock.

Why would a 3000+ not have much headroom?

Because it's nearing the end of what that Barton core is capable of. The XP's stopped at 3200+, and those are really poor overclockers. Not much can be expected expected out of a 3000+ XP.

Don't confuse the 3200+ XP with the A64 3200+.
