How overclockable is a 2.8 Prescott with the stock cooler that comes with it? Also how overclockable is the Radeon 9700? I would appreciate aother just general tips about how to go about safely overclocking this stuff in general.

what kind of mobo are you running...generally the rule to overclocking is to step up slightly. Take your time and run stress tests on your cpu/video card. Depending on the board you have you may have some really good features for overclocking. As for the video card you'll need powerstrip to step that puppy up.. I recommend good cooling systems for both the videocard and proc. look into the slot coolers for the video card thoose will help keep the temps down.. As for the cpu look into thermal right thermaltake and coolermaster all work great for what your looking for. Now as for how far you'll go depends on the enviroment, cooling, and the cpu in generla they all vary just slightly and some just overclock better then others..

5-10 percent overclocks are good for stock cooling until you get a different fan (or if you do.) (corect me if I'm wrong) and be sure to run CPU Burn In to test stability and SUPER PI to see the results.
