Hi all,

I want to replace my HAF 932, it's just too big. My desk has a little cubby the case fits into. At the moment, I have to have to door off since the HAF sticks out.

I probably also want to go water cooling on the CPU, and filter any air intakes. California is dusty!

Cubby is 12.5" wide, by 23" tall, by 19.5" deep. The case needs to be smaller than this to fit. But, able to house a large video card, and have USB 3.0

According to this comparison, the HAF 922 barely fits and the NZXT Tempest 210 is a more comfortable fit.

I would caution that if you decide to close the front door, you figure out a way to move air through there, otherwise your creating an oven.

Hope this helps.

There is a 2" gap along the back where cords come in. It runs the entire 23" tall. I can open the door while gaming.

I think it'd help if you cut an exhaust port, but that's just me.

Looking over, I think say a Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 or a Corsair Obsidian 450D should give you a smaller case without sacrificing airflow. Assuming you have an ATX motherboard.

Why does it have to be so god damned complicated??? Most cases would be fine if the cords didn't stick out the back...

Because where else would they go?

So what exactly are you looking for?

Location: Sittin' downtown at the railway station, one toke over the line.
So you cut a hole in the back big enough for air exhaust and for the cords to run through and the case can sit flush to the rear wall.
Oh, wait, just looked at the picture again. Is the back of the cubby the front of the desk?

There's apparently a slit along the back left side that runs the whole height of the cubby.

I'd like to help OP, but unless OP is as specific as possible with what he wants, we're going to do this all day:

Yeah, but the existing slit doesn't allow the case to sit flush to the rear of the cubby. I think he's losing some space back there, probably a few inches, giving the cords room to connect. Anyways, ample suggestions have been made, at least enough for a direction to look in.
That picture is hilarious.

OK, so what he needs is:

Case with dimensions of W<12.5", H<23", D<19.5"; USB 3.0 support; large(?) video card support; WC support

Hmm, ok, so stick that into newegg and viola?

Those aren't parameters you can slip in.

And now OP is complaining about cables running in the back... etc. I mean we could just list a ton of cases and let OP have fun with that.

No, I was just bitching because it WOULD be easier to search by dimensions, for what I want.

In the first post, you can see the HAF 932 fits. Just barely. Would like a little bit of wriggle room for air flow is all.

Anyways, just ran Prime95 for over 3 hours and pics below are the result. I think it's good for a 5 year old computer. I've never reapplied any thermal paste. The high #'s were with the CPU fan at 50%, then I kicked it up to 100%. Average it looks like 75C at full bore.

Your case is a FullATX case, getting a MidATX case would be a good place to start.

I would just take the back off and not buy a new case. with the door back on and closed who would know.

Next logical step; disregard case, mount everything to the insides of the cubby.

The back of the cubby there is the front of the desk, facing my bed. There will be no holes or openings there.

How does my temperature assessment look? Good enough?

Thanks!

It kills me. I have the money to upgrade, but my wife will cut my balls off if I spend. Especially on a computer. Realistically, it's turned off 75% of the time anyway. I've played my game (WoW) maybe twice since last October.

I'm confused...are we still trying to figure out a case or what?

Think I've decided on the Corsair 450D, I like the dust filters. When, or if I get it is still under review.
