I'm currently looking to buy a desktop for under 600 dollars. The main priority for this desktop is high end performance for gaming, as much as 600 dollars can get you. I'd be willing to get pointed towards eBay and other such websites, if it would mean that I'd be saving money on computers that normally surpass my maximum 600 dollar price.

Moreover, I would like to get a desktop that is known to be dependable and rarely has any sort of problems regarding hard drive errors. The reason being is I have this weird tendency to break any sort of computer in a short period of time, due to electrical interference. It may sound strange, but I've met other people who have this quirk, and I would like to have a computer that doesn't have any major problems regarding this. If there isn't any way to stop this, is there any sort of way I'd be able to place the desktop a fair distance away from me, so that I don't get to close to the vicinity of it and risk breaking it like my other three.

Building my own computer is something I am open too also, but I do not know much about computers, so I would much rather hear any sort of buying recommendations first. I know you guys are pros when it comes to knowing whats the best when it comes to pcs, so I'm looking forward to hearing what you guys have in mind.

Regarding the electrical problem... It's probably what you're connecting it to or someone put in a shoddy PSU. Because any computer you get out there will be built with pretty much the same components as everything else. Meaning nothing you'll buy will be free of this problem, at least at this budget.

Other than that... it's probably best to build your own following this http://www.logicalincrements.com/

Wait, so if I should get a computer, I would be best off building my own? Is there really no comp that's a good gaming computer under 600 that's pre-built.

Also regarding the electrical problem with computers, the problem is all encompassing with electronics in general. I can be near a light bulb and it will flicker on and off, so I would like to know if there is anyway I could get an extension cord that would allow for placement of the computer tower to be far away from me so it doesn't blow up. Thanks.

From what I've seen they usually pair an OK processor with a crappy to almost crappy GPU. So for gaming purposes, it's probably best to build your own.

And if you can flicker lightbulbs, I'd worry more about anything else within the vicinity than the tower. Otherwise I guess you could make a Faraday cage around the computer by wrapping it up in aluminum foil and grounding it somehow.
