Yep, exactly right Saspro. You can switch over as many clients as you want/need to before the race, but everyone starts at 0 points when the race begins on the 5th at noon PDT.

What's PDT in relation to real time (i.e. GMT)

I think it's GMT -7.

Which is BST -8, so: 2000 5th May BST, 1900 5th May Zulu.

Think we need to stick with 12 noon, Dread Time. That way there will be no confusion

sorry for chiming a bit late about the name. I don't agree about using ChasR as folding name since it would be unethical. The spirit of the challenge is to have everyone fold together without favoritism so use a different name. No problem using something with ChasR in it as a hommage ;)

Adak, could you stay outside the discussion once more ?

About the stats, I suggest we use Stanford numbers since it's the most accurate. I guess server issues won't happen this time and I could ask Vijay Pande to not do tweaks on may 5th to let the challenge start without issues.

I also have a issue with using a non-chimp name. The point is for everyone to get involved, and sacrifice there own points for the competition. I understand that not all point will easily be reassigned. All teams will have to deal with that issue. Imagine some of the folders with hundereds of systems having to be converted over just to compete.

/trashtalk on
Aside from that, I would hate for any team to feel they have an excuse for not performing up to their own expectation.
/trashtalk off

Time zones certainly aren't my specialty. I have a hard enough time with the zones in the states, let alone the time zone for my relatives in Sweden, and other countries LOL!

I think it's more like addition is not your specialty. I hear it gets real dicey when you run out of fingers and toes.

Isn't that the whole reason why they invented calculators ;)

I also do not agree with ChasR as the the team name for OCF as Clamatowas will be working diligently to change all of his servers names over its only fair. This is for fun not a way to get quick wins with lack of work.

e.g. Ill be team " " username Default...

Its like anything else... it just takes a little practice. I worked (coordinating events) with people all around the world before. It was dreadful at first but after a month it didn't bother me. Although, Daylight savings still haunts me  I'm a little rusty now but I could pick it up again if I had to.

http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/full.html and http://www.worldtimezone.com/index24.html help too :!:

For the record, MaxPC will be using maximum_monkey as the username. It won by pretty much a landslide.

Now there's something that really gets my goat! Ol' Mr. Franklin did a lot of good things for this country, but he really screwed the whole world up with that idea!

[RANT] You know what? If Farmer Brown wanted to get up an hour earlier to go play in the dirt, he can just get up an hour earlier. We don't need to change the clocks all across the world for him.

.....and if Congress thinks we need to shift our work schedule an hour, in order to save energy costs on lighting, just say so, don't change the frikkin dates for DST! [/rant]

GO MAXIMUM_MONKEY!

I just add 1 vote for "chimps only" and "Standord stats as main, others as backup".

It's a matter of habit, really. Having lived all my life with summer time, I have no problems with it. Some others always complain, though.
