I'm a bit confused as to the second part. Do you want Jason or Seadave to do the graph? I've already got Seadave lined up. Also, am I correct in reading that you want to start the race at 1 PM instead of noon?

Jason. That way the tracking will match our official numbers. The EOC site is also up for dealing with the extra load from everybody checking their team numbers while the CC is running. And the 1pm PDT means that we hit the 3pm CDT update at EOC.

so someone explain something to me..... considering the EOC site is extremely wonky right now... (it's not even close to the Stanford numbers) how are we to use this accurately... one example is the EOC site stated 119 points for us at 12 noon yet the next update was over 45k points.... how is that accurate???? yet looking at the Stanford site it was accurate right through..... this has been going on for quite some time now.....

How about we just use both?

Check Stanford and check EOC?

How about we keep it simple like in years past.

I kind of feel the same way. I mean what is stopping teams folding under one of the megafolders (1m ppd) names?

I get that it is paying homage to their #1 folder chasR. We did the same thing with naming Monkey_Bollocks after our long term captain Bollocks. But just folding under their name when it has nothing to do with 'chimps' seems a bit strange.

Not a big deal i guess but thought i would post this anyway.

lol funny you should bring that up.... many have thought very similar things.... the main thing brought up is the advantage of putting all your ppd onto someone that is already folding big numbers...... we've seen through this and will come up with a decision soon..... i mean hell if that's the case and we just put all our ppd onto mutsu who is #1 in the world right now we don't think that'd be very fair either..... thanks for bringing it to everyone's attention however...


one quick question for you.... how is everyone doing down under after all those horrid fires that occurred???? I hope everyone is doing okay now... many here i know were concerned for our folding brothers down under.....

Yeah the fires were pretty devastating. 173 dead and a few towns just clean wiped off the map.

To be honest i dont know how the people affected are doing now. I live at the other end of the country to where the fires were so im not the best guy to be asking. But its good to know others around the world were concerned for those affected.

Mutsu already has a script for setting up the FAH client across all his blade servers, and is sharing that with a few of the other big blade folders. All that using ChasR's name does is help level the playing field for a team that has no super blade folder, and keep another name out of our highly-valued top 20 ranking.



My folding buddy is in the burned out area. He reports much higher rental costs as all the victims seek to rent a home or apt, and an extra measure of general business downturn, as well.

Actually Adak, after you guys recruited people like zim01, and macaholic in past years Chimp Challenges to give yourselves an edge and make sure you win, I'm not sure that allowing you to use that username is fair to us or everyone else. We basically got told tough, go get your own super folder to help you out.

Now the tables have turned, and other teams have super folders, and now you want leniency to give yourselves an edge AGAIN?

In light of this, and all the other teams choosing a neutral, chimp themed Team name, you need to choose a different Team Name. It's great that you want to honor one of your team mates, but this is the Chimp Challenge, not the ChasR challenge. Honor him on your own time, please.

...or honor him with a name such as Chimp_ChasR or such.

for that matter, what's to keep someone from jumping onto anonymous for the challenge? (I call dibs)

Your memory on this matter may be convenient, but it's quite wrong:

Zim01 had already been folding with us for months, and we *never* asked him to join us in the CC. Not Once!!

YOU came over to our forum, and started trash talking to Zim, and he took offense at your snide remarks, and decided to pitch in.

YOU lost the race that year for your team, because you kept teasing the big dog folder.

You can find your remarks to Zim in our archives, if you need to refresh your memory.

Macaholic is a long term folder for us, (going back several years), and joins in our team races. He is a strong folder, but he is not a super folder like Mutsu. We lost despite a lot of help from Macaholic and others, last year, you will recall. We expect to do worse this year, relative to MaxPC.

Your team just finished sweeping right past us, despite the help of Macaholic, so what the devil are you afraid of? Your team ppd is far above ours! Your competition will be EVGA, OC.net, and the [H]orde teams.

This is a MONKEY race, not the Olympics. Now you want to what? Referee it to death?

Your team AND my team, has both invited in outside folders to help us in various races, and then paid them back, by folding for them. Zim wasn't one of them, but the OAO team did help us in the CC, last year, and Warrior, dfonda, and myself, did pay them back.

THAT is the real spirit of a monkey race, right there!
(Note that we didn't win, even with the outside help)

Although I believe "the more, the merrier" for these races, my team does not (this year), so we won't be inviting other teams or folders, to fold for us in the CC.

I would prefer that EVERY team, invite EVERY folder they can think of to join them in the CC. New folders (preferred), old folders, (OK also). Makes more BUZZ, gets more attention and excitement into the CC and folding.

Let's face it, just folding for yourself, year after year, gets a bit boring. Quit officiating it to death, and lets have some fun!

Our team will fold with whatever name our team captain selects. NO outside team will dictate to us what name we can or can not use. Using a monkey themed name was NEVER a requirement.

If you want to use "Mutsu", for your folding name in the race, then do it!
It's your team, it's your decision. Use whatever name you want to use.

We'll do the same.

He folded 3,802,214 points for our team. He wasn't "recruited", he had joined our team months before the CC, and left it soon afterward. We don't know why he decided to join us, or why he decided to leave. He said he'd fold at least a million points and then at some point, move on.

That's exactly what he did.

Perhaps you missed my very first post about Team Captains discussing rules only. You are not a team captain, and therefore have no right to request rules changes here. Don't start a flame war. Any attempt to do so will not be looked kindly upon, and will result in the flame post being deleted. We need to keep this civilized.

If you wish to change rules, please discuss it amongst your team and have your Captain post it here.

The whole spirit of this Challenge is to see how many clients each team can switch over to one Chimp themed username.

If it wasn't for that than we might as well just go by overall team stats.

Question about scoring
As the start time is different for us in the UK & everywhere else in the world, what happens if we start off early and points get added before the start time?
Is the score at the start time classed as zero & we have to get 20 million above the score at start time (makes sense to me)?

Yep, exactly right Saspro. You can switch over as many clients as you want/need to before the race, but everyone starts at 0 points when the race begins on the 5th at noon PDT.

What's PDT in relation to real time (i.e. GMT)
