Newbie hits 4 million.

Long time folders know Newbie very well.

Always happy, a rare quality anywhere.

He folds with a handicap.
She who must be obeyed, has limits on the number of machines allowed in the house.

I can relate to this type of handicap, as I suffer from it also.

He has found ways around this limitation.
Most wives do not count graphic cards as additional machines.

He did a great SpotLight.
Learn more about him if you are new.

He runs the Folder of the Month and does a great job.

Regular events on a monthly basis add greatly to the fun of folding.

He's coming into his busy season at work.
Mainly irrigation systems for golf courses.

Talk about a good size lawn to water.

My friend Ken, you all met him in the My summer vacation thread, just put in a pool.
Less lawn to water, but I'm not sure if it's not a lot more trouble and expense per square foot.

This may bite into his mountain climbing and trail walking time this year.

Let your fingers dance over the keys for our beloved Newbie.

Thanks for Folding bigtime to 4 million.
Thanks for making folding fun - G

What happened to that 28k PPD, though? You've gone a little limp.

Oh, how true!

My limitation is three machines. So far, I've been running on 7 GPU's and doing my best to keep the heat on N1k Haven't passed him yet. Congrats on beating me across the 4 mill mark. WTF!

Thanks guys. I was flirting around the top twenty a while back, but that seemed to be due to fortuitous WU's. I'm back to my usual 17-20K ppd...sigh

Had plans to replace a video card or two with my tax refund...that never happened, but I do have a 9800GT eligible for BFG's step up program. I'm just waiting to see how things pan out financially before pulling the trigger on it, probably up to a 260, anything more than that and I'm not sure if my PC P&C 610 can handle it.

Looking at replacing Windows 7 with Ubuntu, thanks to the excellent guides here. I hope to have it done before the MPC thrashing of other teams.....errrr, I mean the Chimp Challenge.

Fold on!

Well...I've installed Ubuntu several times before...it's just getting the fan on the video card to run at 90-100% that has me concerned. Someone suggested nclock (I think) and I'm willing to give it a shot...eventually..maybe...someday.

I like bbies1973's suggestion. It might be a little nerve wracking the first time but it can't be that hard... if he was able to do it :P Maybe he can show us how its done.

There will be much lamentation and stuff when the Canadian border reaches down and touches that of Texas. That's when the "Great War" will ensue.

I could write up a "how-to" ....

Or, I could give credit to the source, and simply direct you to where I learned how - in this article The article is on overclocking. Many people are afraid of overclocking their vid cards in the BIOS, because it's slightly more complicated that CPU OC in a mobo's BIOs. You don't get a CMOS reset on a video card if you mess it up. However, since I got into Folding on vid cards, I've used the same process to jump right in and flash the vid card's BIOS with a fan adjustment without fear. You just leave the clock settings at factory, and adjust only the fan settings. Pretty easy, really.
