The GTX295's are X2 type boards with 2 processors, correct?

So that 15kPPD is really 7.5KPPD per processor?

And having 2 GTX295's, with all 4 processors cranking away = around 30k PPD?

yes 4 gpu's doing 30k ppd....

That's a dummy plug, right? I average 10K PPD with an i7 920 @ 3.66 and a GTX 295 w/out a dummy plug, or am I under-producing?

depends on the os.... i use only xp for the multi gpu rigs as it's so much easier as you need no dummy plug and just extend the desktop in the settings..... the lowest i've seen the card get so far is 11,600 ppd with two of the crappiest wu's.... does almost 16k ppd with the nice friendly wu's....

So again, since the question got moved way up, would 2 260 core 216s in SLI be better than 1 285? I'm talking about a 1900x1200 res monitor, for both gaming and folding...

yes....

a bit of an edge in gaming....

9500 ppd for a gtx285 vs. approx. 15k ppd for two 260/216's

so better in folding as well....

Cool, then that's what I will shoot for. Any card in particular? Looking at EVGA, I guess I need one of the core 216 models...

What he's saying is if you have more than one physical video card and you have Windows Vista, the OS won't let you extend the desktop to the second video card (which is required to run F@H) without 1 A monitor plugged into the second card or 2 A dummy plug to fake the OS into thinking there is a monitor on the second card. In XP it will let you extend the desktop onto the second card if you have a monitor/dummy plug on it or not. With a single GTX 295 you only need one monitor/dummy plug in one of the two DVI ports to enable the card to fold. Now of course you need two GPU clients to fully realize your points potential with the one card (one for each GPU). Puff can give you all the details for that setup since us poor non-Canadians can't afford the GTX 295

i believe it's still tricky in vista getting both gpu's working on the 295.... i'll see if Roverdude can post in here... he's gotten his going on vista.... with xp i simply followed the guide from Stanford to the letter and it's worked flawlessly on two different rigs.... in fact the rig with 2 x gtx295's was the easiest making 4 clients.... :D
