wow - for the 939 friends:

newegg has an AMD FX-55 retail with a Seagate Barracuda 250GB SATA 3.0GB/s OEM drive for $199.99 - that's just crazy cheap.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6819103527

11108 could stand to see a few of these added to FAH rigs. go get 'em!

dunno folks, when I think deal it is like $100 or less for a processor. If more I would steer clear of the D model dual core. Used parts are always the best deal. Watch the forum, people are always selling stuff cheap !

of course, this is just a place to post deals that you see on line, that someone else might not see

as you are a team member and actively folding, when you complete the necessary work units, there is another area available for these choice deals that are made available "privately"

Want to get in on the GPU beta testing scene?

Sapphire Radeon X1950PRO - $199.99
or
Asus 1950PRO - $199.99

With 36 pixel shaders, these cards should produce 450+PPD at the current rate of 660PPD on the benchmark X1900XT.

This GPU is recommended for dedicated boxes with a PCIe x16 slot, running Pentium 4s, Pentium Ds, and all s754, s939, and AM2 Semprons and Athlon 64s. The CPU time required by the GPU client decreases its point value on Core 2 Duos. Thus its absence from the preceding list.

Disclaimer: PPD may change as the beta progresses and the GPU client reaches final public release.

Wow. I'm a Nvidia fan, but you got me quite interested as I'm trying to break into top 500 scene. Good prices to boot. I got a d 805. With one 7600gt and one dead 7600gt. Contemplation commences... :?

I was looking at the halloween deals at newegg and they are selling AMD 3400s with a motherboard for $100. Socket 939. They also have 320 gigabyte 16MB cache, seagate drives for 94.99 with free shipping.

This would probably make a decent dedicated folder for someone. I'm not sure if it's s939 or s754. But pretty good nonetheless.

In case someone needs a 500GB hard drive and a 250GB hard drive. This is a decent combo deal that gives a free 250GB hard drive when you purchase the 500GB hard drive. Not sure why you would want two.

How's this for a one time purchase?

I know it's not exactly that great, but throw Linux on it, get it Folding, and boost your PPD. :)

OK - looks like Fry's is at it again.... In their ad for this week (12/8 - 12/12), they are advertising a C2D E6300 with an ECS P4M800PRO-M V2 motherboard combo for $160.

I bought this same combo about 6 weeks ago and it was $179 with a boxed processor. This combo may be a tray (OEM) processor, but the price is right. The motherboard is an entry level board that runs AGP, but it's a cheap way to start folding. This board also accepts DDR or DDR2 memory (but not at the same time). Be a good folder box for those that have old parts laying around. BTW, Fry's will also give credit for the MB in the package price if you want to upgrade the MB at the time of purchase.

Other Fry's deals for 12/8-12/12:

C2D E6600 & MSI 945P Neo3-F Mobo = $380
AMD Athlon64 X2 4200+ & ABIT NF-M2 Nview Mobo = $270
P4 531 & ECS RS400-A mobo = $100

Sorry - no combo links to these online looks like it's instore only.
