It's not necessarily computer/Folding related, but this weekend (at least in Alabama) is a back to school tax free weekend.

:) If you're going to buy an off the shelf desktop or laptop, you might want to check and see if it's going on in your neck of the woods...

CompUSA is in the midst of reducing in-store SKU's, which means they're really beginning to drop prices on some older stuff. Some regions have been given the ok to manually reduce some really old stuff below corporate prices to get it sold off...

We still have PNY 2Gb DDR2-4200 kits, which after $50 rebates were $99. I'm buying two for this years Intel EPP Program (Core2Duo 6300/BX965PE/Vista Ultimate).

Check the "all stores" list out.

My dad bought a Pentium 4 521 with a ECS PT800CE-A mobo at Fry's

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>It only cost $110<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
at that time the proc was $150

And I bought an Athlon 64 3200+ with an ECS RX480-A Mobo

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>It only cost $150<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
back when I bought it the proc was selling for $160 and the mobo was $60

The entry level Intel Pentium D 805 Dual core CPU is now $92 shipped at Newegg in case someone wants to eventually get Conroe but cannot afford it yet.

Looks like a decent deal.

The ultra low amount of memory sucks, but look what else you get.

A decent deal indeed. I'd like to know the overclocking capabilities of that Intel board. Otherwise I'm already faster against its stock. Even more so a great deal for those who dont quite know enough to build their own.

This is what I have my eyeball on for a future overclock pc.

Where you shopping @ waters? Goldman & Sach's electronics departement? lol This is from Techbargains.com

Thursday's daily pick: Motherboard - Asus P5W-DH Deluxe 975x Motherboard - October 12, 2006
Today's featured motherboard is the Asus Asus P5W-DH Deluxe 975x LGA775 motherboard. The board comes with Conroe and Kentsfield support, rugged overclocking, Wifi, dual Gigabit, eSATA, and more. Unlike the 965p chipset, the 975x was natively built to support Crossfire, and allows 8x8 PCI-E configurations. It can also overclock the higher-end Conroes (E6600 and better) as well as, if not better than, the 965p boards. The Asus brand is currently considered the best of the 975x boards in terms of stability and overclocking potential.
(Not a big fan of only 8x crossfire support though)

The P5W-DH can be had for as low as $218.70. $9.38 Shipping.

Monday's daily pick: Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-965P-DQ6 Motherboard - October 2, 2006
Today's featured motherboard is the Gigabyte GA-965P-DQ6 LGA775 965p motherboard. The board comes with Conroe Core 2 (and possibly Kentfield) support, has been known to overclock well, and has a respectable number of features (Gigabit, SATA, extensive connectivity options). It can be had for as low as $210.93. $9.38 Shipping.
(One 16x pci-e land and a 4x so no sli. guaranteeing future quad-core support though)

Go to techbargains.com and search techbargains for "daily pick". Has lowest price search and 3-4 review links each.
