I just started recently too. July 2nd was my first day. Keep at it. If you get a second comp, you should be able to catch Dan in another week or so. Oh look, there's Chumly, just a few page up buttons in front of me now. :)

LOL! Yea, I'm way down there, WAY above Goat. LOL I'm gonna hook up my home laptop once I can figure out why it keeps shutting down because one of the drivers suddenly dissapears.

If you start a WU, and close your connection, will it start right back where ti left off when you connect the next time? If so, what happened to all of those WU's that people left stranded. Maybe one of those is the cure to baldness. lol

Depends on which version (sreensaver, cli client, normal program) and how often you have it write results to disk. I believe the default time is 15 minutes, so you'll lose 7.5 minutes on average. Check the FAQ.

You can set it to get a WU from a specific project, but afaik, they all have about the same time complexity. It mentioned this somewhere in the FAQ.

What FAQ? I don't see one in this folder. Point me to it so I can look at that before asking questions. :)

Sheesh. Noobs... http://folding.stanford.edu/faq.html

Is there a way to set it so you only get the most complicated WU's? Right now I pound out about 1.5 a day between the 400 and 500 stage WU's.

For the most part, its mostly random. You could add the -advmethods flag to the start comand. That might help.

I get the big WU's every couple of weeks. Its weird though, I have two machines (notebooks) that fold 24/7 and my desktop and they hit the
"big ones" about the same time. My desktop will knock one of them out in about a day and a half to two days, while one of my notebooks can kill two at the same time in two and a half days.

Hey Spider Monkey, you better work hard if you want to outpace me!

You've only gotten 333 points in this week, while I've gotten in 585. :P

Ooh, lookey there, I just finished another WU as I was writing this!

Keep it up Spider, you've got a long way to go before you can outrank me!

Just started my 5th WU. You must have more Pooters working than my one. Mine goes 24/7. I'll never catch you. lol

Well, if you count a dual boot system as two "pooters" then I guess you could say that.

That's the reason it looks like I have two, I finished a 239 point Tinker on each OS within 24hrs.

But really, I've only got one computer running, but it's running at 3200+ :)

What's your system specs on your machines Spider? I think all that's important is the proccessor brand, model, speed, and the speed your running it at.

Actually, about 3 or 4 of those days were non-productive. Still, I can't yet reach that kind of score per week yet. I've only got one CPU ya know! :?

Anyway, I lost a night of folding last night. My Northbridge fan died on me, and it took me a few hours to figure out that I didn't need it anyway. But the computer was already torn open and unplugged and it was near 2AM. So, I let last night go. Oh well, this weekend the folks will be gone and I will have all 72hours of folding all to myself! :)

I did just swap cases. That was a lot of work. I never realized just how much was involved in swapping cases. So, there went another two hours of folding.

Can you believe that a $26 case has so far cost me over $80? That's because I had to buy 2 fans, one 60mm ($15 local) and one 120mm (15 w/shipping online) The case itself cost $15 to ship. Then there were the little plugs and adapters I need to get two of my fans running! Another $11. Doh!

I might have to shut off a pc and let you sweat it out a little longer... and then there will be all the screenshots when it finally does happen. lol :)

FYI:
[10:57:32] Project: 559 (Run 173, Clone 12, Gen 6)

Got this 500 unit WU this morning and it it's about ready to finish. It seems to be the quickest my "little" PC has spit one out...that I've noticed. I could do 4 or 5 of these per day fairly easily.
--------------------------------------------------
Edit: Done at 4P exactly. Gave me another 500unit WU.
Project: 559 (Run 173, Clone 4, Gen 7)
45 pts!? That's not really bad for a 6 hour job IMO. That's worth 180 a day on one machine. Hope I can get more of those!

Says 3 days before you run by me Gadget. But I'm guessing that by Monday, you'll have not only overtaken my meager folder, but jumped way up there. I give ya 30 hrs from now:p

From the forecast, in one week I'll have moved up a sickly 6 spots:p Sixteen days to break into the top 500. I better crank up another PC...I've hit a wall.

Better than a $1400 system that can't even POST yet :p Not to mention the cooling rig that I'm going to try to drag over to it. Damned PCIE! Damn you!

Anyone want to invest heavily in some ChumlyInc. junk bonds???
