Hey, did you just fire up some new hardware here recently. I noticed you in the Top 20 and checked out your production. Sharp spike.

When I got back in to folding a few weeks ago I was using the following:

AMD FX 8350 8 core CPU at 4.2 GHz
AMD Phenom II x6 CPU at 2.8 GHz x2
GeForce GTX 260 GPU x2

Now I am using the following:

AMD FX 8350 8 core CPU at 4.2 GHz
AMD Phenom II x6 CPU at 2.8 GHz x2
Radeon HD 7870 x2
GeForce GTS 450

I need to up grade the PSU in 2 of my PC's, then I can put a GTX 460 and the 2 GTX 260's to folding. For a while I was using a 32 core server that I have. It would give about 50k ppd, but it sounded like a jet engine and put out a crap load of heat.

Ooh, look at the new GPUs. A 32 core server? Crimeny, I've a got dual proc 8 core (for ~12K) and it's louder than hell, I have it banished and the rear fan down to 70%. I've been thinking about PSUs lately, too. But I've been thinking about Maxwell more.

ill be fine, but $400-$500 bucks would be nicer in GPUs than cavities...

I'm in Southeastern WI (think Milwaukee area). IIRC, there's someone in northern Illinois, someone in Iowa, and a few others around the midwest. I could be totally off, but at least I'm trying

Well done, I'm the northern Illinois, 20 mins from Wisconsin. Actually just went to Janesville last weekend.

Hey gero, R3D, devastator, I see you guys, getting it in. I noticed mfbowler's been averaging a million plus here lately, too.

Depending on traffic, I'm only about 2 hours away.

Aw man, I love the cold - I was definitely born in the wrong part of the globe.

We had four separate occasions in January alone where the temps were in single digits.

That's in a north ATL suburb.

LOVED IT!

SOOOOOOOO jealous! We had a week straight with negative numbers and wind chill in the -20s... that stuff can damage a person if outside over 10 mins, parking lots were horrible.
