SOOOOOOOO jealous! We had a week straight with negative numbers and wind chill in the -20s... that stuff can damage a person if outside over 10 mins, parking lots were horrible.
Now see, that's what I mean! I would have loved that!
I spent the winter of 1989/1990 about 3 hours due west of Edmonton, Alberta.
Not enough snow to my liking, but we had the cold for sure. I got up one morning to -42F. Wind was howling out of the nearby mountain pass, but I never got the wind chill figure for the day - had to be eye-popping.
Had to drive from the hotel to the mill - got into the rental, cranked'er up, headed out onto the highway - car rode like I was speeding through a washboard gully - I thought maybe I had a transmission problem, but after about a mile, the ride smoothed out - I realized later that what must have happened was that those cheap rental car tires had stiffened in the night, and the bumpiness of the ride was due to the "flats" that the tires had mashed into them by the parking lot surface. Once they warmed up, flats disappeared, ride smoothed.
I, of course, was delighted that I wasn't going to be stranded and freeze to death.
I still love the cold.
