I have a Radeon HD 7870 and a FX 8350 in my PC. I am not sure that I have it setup right. I have 3 slots, not 2. I have the following in the slots:

0 cpu
1 gpu
2 cpu

Is this how is should be?

Hey devastator_2000

Do you see the cpu core distributed something like this:

00 Running cpu: 3
01 Running gpu: 0
02 Running cpu: 4

The gpu will use one core leaving seven others to go into the slots. Perhaps the optimum set-up is 4 core per slot, and so you get 4 cores on one and 3 on the other?

Just thinking out loud here...

you should have 2 slots, 1 for cpu and 1 for gpu. If you go to configure -> slots, I would delete the 1st cpu so it is 00 gpu and 01 cpu, then go to edit and make sure all the boxes in each say -1. This will let the client decide what cores go where and pretty much always works.

Thanks for the input guys, but I solved the problem. I was following an older setup guide.

What kind of temps are you getting on your 8350 and what kind of cooling? I updated to the new 7.4 version and it took two cores away so I went back to the older 7.3 version. The screen is a little choppy but I don't use that computer much and turn folding off when I do.

I have a mild overclock, 4.2 GHz, and it tops out at 68c when folding.

Thanks I've been trying to keep mine below 60 and it is hard to do even with a corsair h110. It cools OK if I leave it out on the desk but putting it in hole for it makes it run a lot hotter. It seem seems like I might have it dialed in now. With the back of the desk cut out and breathing holes cut into the inner partition and a 120mm fan to help draw air out the back. I have a GTX 460 and a GTX770 in there too but I've water cooled the 460
