I am occasionally folding on my linux machine. Using the Core17 and client-type beta flags seems to have finally got it working for linux machines. I tried it last year but since then PG has made some improvements in their client. I'm supposed to get at least 12000ppd if I fold 24/7, but I only let the machine run up to 12 hours a day folding. It also seems that GPU folding makes everything a bit laggy, so I can't let it run when it's used for web surfing. I stopped using the CPU for folding since it got too loud and didn't seem as efficient for the part-time folding I do.

Results:
Core17, Project 8900 = 6000 base credit; ~27 hours to complete
Estimated PPD (24/7)= 12273

Temperatures:
Ambient: 20C
GPU: 57C
CPU: 33C

Specs:
AMD Phenom II 1045T
8GB RAM
Gigabyte GTX550Ti
NZXT Hale 650W PSU
Antec 302 (2x120mm intakes + 140mm & 120mm exhausts)

I thought that Linux GPU Folding was pretty much on par with Windows GPU Folding - in terms of production?

I would have expected that on a GTX550Ti card, that is Folding a Core 17 work unit, you would be at almost double your listed PPD?

I have an EVGA GTX550Ti, Folding a Core 15 work unit, it is producing over 15,000PPD. (and that's on the 6.34 client)

Your PPD seems so low - also, it appears that you are using two, whole CPU cores - where I thought each GPU only needed one core.

I'm wondering if your Folding client is somehow installed Twice?

Do we have a Linux guru here who can tell him where to look for evidence?

No, linux is most likely not on par with Windows. I'm using a beta client and I think GPU support for linux came out sometime this year. There was no GPU support last year. I removed my old client and install the v7 client.

Oh, about the extra core, I was running firefox or gimp alongside. It only uses a single core to fold.
