In the event that anyone wants to give their own shake at (virtual) hand folding some proteins, I found a game that allows you to manually fold proteins to find the lowest energy state for a given chain of amino acids. It's been around for about 5 years, but I hadn't seen it before tonight. The game is called fold.it and is found at http://fold.it/portal/
. It can be run on a Windows, Linux or Mac OS. I have not tried it out yet (just finished downloading...), but it seems like the perfect compliment to our f@h efforts!
