Looks like I have hit my second casualty with folding. Have not trouble shot much yet but my guess is one of my 470's is the cause. The computer will run for about an hour before restarting when not folding, as soon as I crank up the CPU and twin 470 I don't even get a minute before restart. I did pause both GPUs and let just the CPU run and it did not restart, (temp looked good) that's what leads me to believe it is one of the GTX470.

I have a 850 watt PS (corsair) I think that is enough power. I have been running with the two GPUs folding for over a year off and on so I am eliminating that for now.

So with that said I think it is time to remove my two space heaters and get something more efficient and powerful. Any suggestions? I do game on this computer too so want that performance to stay up. Lets say the $300 range.

Ideas :?

Thanks
E

I think I can take care of the one on the connector. Any ideas on the one on the bord?

I had a loose connection from my PSU to my mobo that charred the connector and pins (my fault, I think I didn't get it fully seated when I was putting in a 2nd GPU). I used a mini screwdriver to remove the burnt plastic and scrape the pin clean. I wound up upgrading the PSU, so the connector was new. It worked fine and is still running.

I hope nothing more is damaged for you.

I thought you had to use the [img] BBcode instead of [url] if you want the pic to show in the post, but that didn't work when I tried it, either.

Finally got around to fixing this issue. When attempting to clean the worst pin I damaged it, and trying to mate it with the burnt connector from the PS was a no go. I did get it back up and running by soldering a wire to the back of the board and replacing the PS connector. I cleaned all the other pins with contact cleaner on the MB and the PS so far so good.

Not sure if I should max it in folding like I did before, because I know it's not in tip top shape.

We will see, I will bring it back online and see how it reacts. Any other ideas?

E

Yow know it is what it is... You have a good day and someone you know has the worst day.

Another has fallen to cancer, a young man named Ben. He has a wife and a young daughter but he is gone now because of cancer.

May he rest in peace, and the family know that we continue to try and stop this.

E

Thank you Ben for a wonderful kid that played with my daughter. I Hope with the family's move back to Denver will give them peace.

My condolences. These are the constant reminders of the importance of Folding. Thank you for sharing.
