I am putting FAH on a dually rig I have sitting down almost nothing ... I use it for testing some networking code for the most part, and for checking my mail and surfing when in the TV room.

It is a Dual P3/850 ... not overclocked ... with 512MB of RAM running Gentoo with the 2.6.7 kernel. So ... should I be running 2 processes? One for each CPU? More?

You want to use 2 processes. I highly recommend 2 CLI processes.

Set each to have its own processor affinity. Start a process, set its affinity to CPU 0. Then start the other process and set its affinity to CPU 1

Also make sure you run each instance in its own folder. I use /fah0 and /fah1, and make sure you use the "-local -forceasm -forcesse" flag structure.

Thanks. :)

Am now running it on two machines. I got all excited 'n' shit.

(my roommate isn't home ... I'm considering installing it on his machine and trying to set it up as a hidden process ... ... probably not a good idea though)

information, apparantly you dont need to set affinity, we have been running 3 p4s and 2 xeons hyperthreaded and dont set affinity on any of them they just go to 50% on the p4s and 25% on the xeons (dual) on their own.

I Hope that's true I've notciced that but still Set affinity to by sure the Tasks don't mix, be nice if you didnot have too.

Setting affinity isn't absolutely necessary (and in theory it shouldn't be necessary at all), but according to [Ch]ams and his tweaking guide, it seems to run better if you do set affinity.
