Yeah, I turned in about 240 points today myself, but those Xeons Rock!

I've been getting a lot of high point value WUs recently, and to top it off I reinstalled Windows the other day. Man, you guys were right, it is best to reinstall the OS after a mobo/CPU/ram swap.

I've got some points I've got to finish in Linux, maybe I should do that tonight. Currently 150/400 here in Windows.

Spidey pulled off a 231 point WU yesterday, that was his only WU for the day. :P Today he's managed a whole 88 points!

EOC won't show me overtaking him till I've already passed him up. I figure I might break 1000 points for today, followed by 300-500 for the next week.

I'm still debating whether or not I should leave my computer on during vacation. I'm starting to think that it might not work. We've been having power fluctuations daily now, and most of the time when the power fluxuates the comptuer just sits there, it doesn't reboot, and it doesn't turn off. It's in sort of a no-man's-land where the power is on, but it aint running.

i thought you got a ups, most will act as a line conditioner as well so that shouldnt be a problem, it sounds as if you didnt get a big enough ups to actually run the system what size is it

Actually, I didn't get the UPS, I got a surge protector instead.

The surge protector was only $24 local, and it's an APC. Should be good for about 2,500 eP Joules.

At the time that I bought it, the power fluxuation had only happened once, and it was about a week earlier. Yesterday we got two of them, both within 5 hours of eachother.

This is something Rockford isn't known for. Today was a nice calm day, no wind, no rain, no lightning. Yet still the power went off for about a second twice in the same day.

This all really started about a month ago when we lost power for no obvious reason. It was never explained to us why we lost power. It was a sunny summer morning with barley a breeze when the power shut off for over half an hour. No reason was ever given too us.

Ever since then the power has been flakey. I don't know what's up with Com Ed.

You'd think we were living in a third world country the way the power is behaving recently.

By the way, my father works at the hospital, and from what he says this power problem is wreaking havvoc over there too.

He said that all the technitions were all PO'ed yesterday about the power resetting all the electronics sometime two nights ago. I think alot of the problems were similar to what I have. The power goes out but not long enough to completly shut off the computer, but it does go out long enough to disrupt the computer, thus it stays in an on, but not running, state.

geeze if it were me under those conditions i would invest in an avr ups then you would get only conditined power and the brownouts spiking etc would have little if any effect, i use a 1250 avr that will keep the computer alive for almost an hour, no monitor. this 21 would suck it dry fast, i have two computers and the monitor on it now, but the monitor has to go. apparantly the ups dont cure all i had some fuses blow on one of our 90 degree plus days, and one of the resets blew the ups my tv and stereo stuff was on, appears to have blown the battery circuits out, oh well i knew it was underpowered for the job. i think given your present conditions id not run it while you were gone, or take it to a friends house and run it where it can be watched

edit check to see if they are working on the grid up there maybe some of the big suppliers are working on it.
