Yikes, I wonder how that will do with folding.

Based on how these CPU's keep rolling out from Intel, it seems like my last build was years ago. But it was only in 2010!

Yeah my 920 seems ancient now. I'm not sure that I like having teo sets of two ram slots on either side of the CPU. Can't really use one memory fan anymore.

I'm not sure why they did that either. What exactly is the benefit of separating them?

I would imagine it was to split up the pin count. Half the pin count for accessing memory in one direction while the other pin count goes another.

Accessing four channels at once compared to two channels would double the pin count needed for memory access. Thats twice as many little wires between the memory modules and CPU.

From what I heard it was to keep trace lengths in check for latency sensitive applications.

Just seems annoying lol. I cant really see those reasons being valid for physically moving the dimms around, then again I dont know alot about it.

I have everything else but the prices are still, yikes!, a bit scary:
Intel Core i7-3930K -- $600
ASUS Sabertooth X79 MoBo -- $340
Total -- -- -- $940

The EVGA X79 FTW is very tempting at $400 (for me, forget the Classified version, no way am I doing Quad SLI)

Total -- -- -- $1000
