2 Athlon 2100+s incoming. . . Oh yes, I shall overclock. Oh no, they won't be used for anything else.

Prepare for thy doom!

If those are Palomino core, be very careful on the o/c. You'll make it too unstable for reliable folding and get errors.

Yeah. That's my new OC benchmark. If it has errors folding, its too fast ;-)

Damn.... I need to get some more horsepower too.

Why go cheap? Just get a quad Opteron system. :)

Quad.

Oh yea. 8)

I've actually looked around at some of these "uber" computers. Tyan has a couple of system boards, one for Xeon and one for Opteron, that might make for some nice folding power.

Not sure on what the finshed cost to build one of these would be though....I might have to sit down and add it up someday.

Because the mobo/procs for both of them combined cost less than 150 bucks :-) Add in a shitty HDD, Shitty Vid Card, decent RAM, and a good PS for each, we're talking less than 450 dollars for the both of them. I have other uses for them in the future.

Is this a Dual system? What mobo will you be using?

The only dual Socket A mobo I've seen is made by Gigabyte. It costs about $187 at Newegg. The CPUs are going for $59 a piece. That puts the mobo/cpus compo at $305.

What you must be getting some really shitty other components to get the cost down to $145.

The Ram alone will cost $42 for some Samsung 256mb PC3200.

Or are you using components that have been lying around collecting dust?

ram???

If they are just folding machines generic pc 2700 will do fine. I had no trouble getting my 2100+ to run at 2700+ and that is 166 fsb. Check out prices for refurbished motherboards @ newegg.
