This machine has been sitting off for about 6 months, brought it back online, updated the SMP and GPU Clients (Nvidia GTX260). SMP works fine, GPU I get this (All servers get an OK in a browser, every firewall or AV is off.):

Not sure if this will help you, but I found a post with a similar problem on the Official Folding Forum.

http://foldingforum.org/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=1820

It points to anti-spyware as the possible culprit. Good luck.

As far as I can tell, the problem at that link was a hardware firewall, which can't be the issue for me because I have 3 other machines running fine on the same router.

Your problem could be related to your Shortcut “Start In” directory or wherever you start the client.

Yours starts in:
Launch directory: C:\Program Files\FAH GPU

Here is mine:
Launch directory: C:\Users\_____\AppData\Roaming\Folding@home-gpu

Point your client there and it will find the .dll files needed to run the GPU client.

It points to the correct folder, trust me.

Sorry, I was only trying to help.

But I saw that your Launch directory and your Executable pointed to the same directory.
This has been a problem for me in the past and I had to work it out just like you.

Your Log:

I didn't take offense, don't worry.

It doesn't work even when only opening the exe.

The problem of which you speak is only a problem in Windows 7. There is no C:\Users in XP.

I am still running 2 machines on Windows XP - one 64bit with 2 GPU clients the other 32bit with 3 GPUs churning out folding points every day.

Take a look in your Windows XP user directory for something like this:

C:\Documents and Settings\(your username)\Application Data\Folding@home-gpu

See if the install didn't leave some good stuff there along with a shortcut link in your Startup folder which you may have deleted.

Out of frustration, I just reinstalled Windows and all is well. Installed it the same place I had it before. Still don't know what the problem was but oh well.

I'm glad your ordeal is over.
