Until this broil-a-thon is done, I'm on the sidelines. Indoors, I'm at 95°F (35°c), and with F@H's 25°c temp rise, I'm getting 60°c CPU temps. Too close for comfort to my A64 X2's 65°c max die temp.

I envy you guys with air conditioners.

I've been down for a few weeks and will continue to be so until September. On the upside, I've got plenty of time to completely disassemble for cleaning and
in some cases, upgrading.

Just a heat related story

BGE has something called Peak Rewards

You agree to allow them to turn off your A/C in emergencies so they can balance the load and avoid blackouts or other power problems.

They give you extra money up front the first year and an amount every year during the worst 4 months of summer.

They have three levels - 50, 75 and 100%.

I choose 75%

Many years they never even use the capability and if they did in the past I didn't even notice the impact.

I noticed yesterday.

I only get A/C for 10 minutes twice an hour and as the day rolled on it got warmer and warmer in the house (supposedly hit 106 degrees outside)

About 11PM it got back to 90 outside and things cooled down in the house.

You have to keep reminding yourself of the fact you are helping everyone by participating and also you were happy to see the savings all those years it never even was a problem.

I probably also saved quite a bit not running the A/C at peak usage maybe 10 hours yesterday.

That's all the positive I can find to report on.

End heat related story

Heat related story update

BGE never had to go PeakRewards Emergency before and it didn't go well the first time.

You are supposed to be effected differently depending on your level chosen.

Almost all were off solid for 10 hours

They couldn't get through to restart them at 5:30PM.
The signals were blocked by all the activity

One woman had to take her dog to the emergency vet, cost $600

Most homes hit the 90s on the top floor, mid 80s below.

My neighbor until a while ago was a lady that worked in BGE PR with her boss.

The two of them took a lot of heat ny name (excuse the pun) that day.

They newspaper was covering it on their blog.

BGE apparently didn't know exactly what to say until later in the evening.

100% level is best if no one is home all day, They say now.

Includes your cats, dogs, birds, fish and mother-in-law.

It's not always easy to be a power company.

Stock holders, a must have product and you have to pay the going rate for power and keep it flowing to everyone through storms of all sorts.

I'm glad it's not my problem

I'm having enough trouble trying to take care of the debt limit in the next few days

End heat related story update
