I work for an insurance company, but that's beside the point. I'm pretty tight with the IT guy ( yes, only one for both offices up where I'm at, trying to get into an IT position myself ) , but I scored a free monitor because apparently they pay to get rid of perfectly good monitors and I was like " HEY! I'll take that off of your hands for free ninety nine. " 30 minutes later after signing some paperwork I had a free 21" Hitachi crt monitor. I thought that was a steal.

Anyone else think I made off like a bandit? ( And they also have other various hardware they're trying to get rid of that I'm going to peruse and aquire )

To be honest....I say... I wouldn't have taken it unless it was free...then again, you might have had to pay me to get it. Yeah, its 21 inches, but its a freaking CRT. That things back is probably freaking huge. I don't know about you, but unless you have a HUGE desk, I along with 98% of the rest of the population would want an LCD over a free CRT. If you have a lot of space on your desk, and it works for you, then nice. But I personally wouldn't/couldn't use it.

I'd have to say that's pretty decent deal, as any tech would agree that a spare monitor, regardless of LCD or CRT, is a very useful item. I have a 21" CRT in storage, and it definitely comes in handy when I need a spare tract of land on the desktop. Too bad you can't snag any goodies for me ;) .

yeah i've got a buddy that has gotten me lots of nice gear, my favorite being an HD projector that needed a new bulb. apparently instead of buying a replacement bulb they replaced the entire thing so that was a great steal. also have gotten several routers, laser jet printers, loads of decent gear.

We've got pallets of Samsung 20" LCD's that just need some TLC. The caps bloated and failed the PSU, and the fix is about $2.60 each.
