Aright, I'm not selling this but want to prematurely brag about a deal I snagged (assuming it goes down smoothly this weekend - if it doesn't, well, serves me right for bragging ;)). I'm supposed to be picking it up this weekend, at which point I'll make payment assuming it checks out. Anyway, here are the spec's and current prices, taken mostly from Newegg:

CoolerMaster Wavemaster Black case $160
MSI K8n neo2 platinum $131
AMD fx-53 Retail $825
BFG 6800 Ulta OC $582
(512X2) 1GB kingston hyperx duel channel pc-3200 $261
Antec True control 550w $110
Klipsch promedia 5.1 ultra $356
Ratpadz gaming surface $17
Windows xp home OEM $90
Logitech keyboard and performence mx510 mouse $50
Dell 1905FP 19' LCD monitor $629
WD caviar 200GB 7200 rpm hard drive $110
Soundblaster audigy2 ZS $90
Lite-on 52x32x52 cd burner $37
Lite-on 16x DVD-rom $31

TOTAL = $3,559

What would you say is a fair price, considering it's used (albiet not very much)? Also, it comes with assorted software, some of which are Doom 3, Far Cry, Norton System Works (blah), etc and a tube of Arctic Silver 5.

Some of the items are a little high (but only 5 or so bucks) according to New Egg - but the others are lower - all in all you aren't gettin taken it doesn't look like :)

No no no, the total listed is not what I paid. *GASP* I can't ever see myself paying $3,500+ for a rig. No, the total listed is what the specs came out to be if I were to buy them new (including shipping, which may explain the $5 difference you saw on some items).

What I'm asking is given the current value of those components (which comes out to over $3,500 total), what do people feel would be a decent deal, decent enough for me to change my mind from an LGA775 based rig that I had my heart set on building?

I'll list what I'm paying once a few people post some incorrect guesses :P

Duelling ram? heehee

So you're asking if you should change your mind about the lga setup you were dreaming about?

If you were able to buy that system for something less than what it would take you to build your lga775, I'd say a definite maybe. Used= :?

I copied and pasted the seller's description, hence the 'duel.' Or maybe it's some new cool RAM that fights?? ;)

I was really intent on an LGA775 setup, but I got the guy to take a decent price on the above FX-53 rig. It's a done deal and I'm not changing my mind (unless it falls through for this weekend), but I'm looking for what you guys think would be a decent price. Basically, throw some appraisals of an asking price :)

So close! You skipped it though - $1,600! Heckuva price if it goes through, plus I'll sell some of the stuff I already have (like the Audigy 2 ZS, Antec Power Supply, RAM, and probably my Logitech Z680s and keep the Klipsches). And, I'm selling my former parts which included a boxed 2.4C, Soyo craptastic i865PE, and 512mb PC4000 OCZ Gold.

When all is said and done, I should be looking at a sub-$1K rig. :D

Yeah! For that price I imagine there's someone lying dead in their house next to a big dust-free area where an FX-53 system used to sit...

I scored the deal on [H] right HERE. And it's now officially a kick-ass deal - I picked up the system today and will set it up after this weekend. In addition to the goodies and games described above, it also came with Final Fantasy XI and the expansion pack, plus a bunch of utilities that I already had (Nero, PowerDVD, etc.).

What a steal.

Well, at least it's not an FX-55. In a way, I feel robbed.
