Maximum PC

So I have a computer I am content with, it performs great, just curious about a flip my rig kind of situation.

Parts to Sell - $620
CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 920 O.C. at 3.2GHz - $100?
Heatsink: Cooler Master Hyper 520 - $20?
Mobo: Gigabyte 790X - $70?
RAM: G.Skill 2x2GB DDR2 1066 - $70?
Video Cards: 2 x XFX ATI Raedon HD 4870 1GB - $200?
Case: Cosmos S - $130?
Extra Case Fans: 6 x Cooler Master Red LED High Air Flow Fans - $20?
Extra Hard Drive Bay: Cooler Master 4 in 3 Hard Drive Module - $10?

Does $620 sound reasonable for everything except a power supply and hard drive and optical drive? More? Less? Do you get more selling it whole, or in pieces?

CPU/Mobo: Intel i5 760 and Evga P55 - $315

Then I would probably get a Hyper 212+ and another 460 in the future, but what do you guys think, can I make this upgrade for $250 or less? 1 460 is probably a downgrade from 2x4870s right? But I don't have a monitor that would need more than 1 460 now anyway. And I plan to SLI when I do get a nice monitor. If $250 is the price, I would get DDR3, Directx11, a much faster processor, and an awesome case. That case is the main thing I would like to upgrade to, the Cosmos S is just so big, and I love that Fortress.

Well, if the 4870's are $100 each, that's a hell of a deal IMO. I think they're worth $150 a pop while the memory is probably only $50 and the case an even $100. Lose $50, gain $100. If you part it out, you can do like every other eBay'r and make up loose ends on shipping. Don't rape 'em, but $5 more than what it costs to ship is more than fair (Handling fee, since gas to the post office isn't free). As one shipment, it's about $45 for that one hefty box. Parting is always a roll of the dice though, unless you have a targeted buyer up front.

If I'm not giving my older stuff away and have some nice stuff laying around, I make a deal with a local friend. In your case and I had a mark in need of a computer, I'd eat the hopefull $650 from used parts being sold and offer to build a computer for them for about $500 and they have to pay $100 for the OS. And you can go from there. If they don't need two 4870s, then you can keep one and make up $100 really easily to still meet your planned profit with the sale of that one card. See where I'm going? You still get $600 in one shot, they get a really good computer they can't get elsewhere for that price, and you get to place your order.

Either way you work it, if you can get $600-650 in hand then for sure your new rehash sounds great. I'm not too hip on the eVGA p55, but my tune's changing slowly I believe.
