Maximum PC

i was browsing newegg and found THIS deal for an HTPC setup. even include a BD player. all you need is an OS. also you can throw in a LP 9600GT and youll have a pretty decent gaming machine as well

Two parts that aren't that great.

The HD 4200 does not provide anything above 2 channel LPCM output, so what's the point of that pretty Blu-Ray player sitting in there? (Yes! Audio is equally important!)

Also there's a question of whether the new batches of CableCard tuners coming in the next few months will be LP compatible or not. I hate the idea of trying to tune/record 4 simultaneous streams over USB 2.0 Vs PCIe.

At least it comes with a quad core CPU. Better than some gimped single core they usually include in a bundle like that.

You can also build that other ways for a good price. AMD is simply pimping their 'Fusion' tech through Newegg.

true, it only supports 2 channel LPCM support, but its still a decent entry level HTPC system for the price. i couldnt come up with anything as close to that price to performance wise
