FOLDING@HOME

Hello, i'm just trying to find ways to let as many ppl as possible know that MAXIMUMPC has a folding team . . . Ive noticed the EVGA team going strong and was wondering if we could raise our own team stats with a little more advertising on the home page? here is a link to EVGA's home page and they have a nice little link on there :) http://www.evga.com/

Anyways just a thought, your all doing great :D

TheMurph,
That is beautiful. Who knows how many people this getting out might save some day. I would still love to see A link to the FAH forum here on the home page and on the cover of the mag but thats just me. I can only say thank you so much for what you have already done.

Just wondering if MaximumPC will have a dedicated page similar to what EVGA has (ie. Maximumpc.com/folding).

Maybe you have a spare intern stuffed in a desk drawer somewhere who can find [Ch]ams' old article and add some links to the forum and related articles. A small intern strikeforce could even kidnap [Ch]ams and make him update the article.

We should. Would be awesome.

I would even volunteer to be the "intern" that would post up to date content on what's going on with Folding@Home. I would jump at that opportunity.

If you guys will put together instructions for running F@H optimally on Windows machines, joining the team, etc, I'll post it and link it from the homepage for as long as people keep clicking it.

I came in here to see if one of my questions where answered and ran across this. I have been interested in the folding at home thing for awhile but never really looked into that much.

The fact that I now have a little 4 year old "Women" in my house now I don't get to game that much. By the way she is the greatest and I love spending as much time with her as I can. Oh and her Mom too.

Basically I have a 3 computers and internet that set idle for days at a time. I have downloaded the program but now I need to set it up. I would like to be on the Maximumpc team (I have been reading for awhile, it was called boot at one time ;) ) what do I need to set it up?

When you set up the client, put your team number as: 11108

That's it, you are on the team.

Hackman,

I guess you saw Will's post a couple down from this one that I quoted. I linked back to it here from the main Folding area. Since you're a mod there, maybe you can get the attention of whomever should be involved in setting this up.

Make a new post Here. Provide your system specs and the clients you are currently running.

Welcome to the Maximum PC folding team.

Once you turn in your first WU (work unit) you will be able to start tracking your stats through EOC.

Satchboy has done a good job with the Thread of All Threads - Links to Frequent Subjects. You might be able to use it. I copied a little from EVGA and Stanford. Its the easiest method I have seen. Anyone is more than welcome to modify, copy, or use it however they like.

Setup Folding@home on NVIDIA CUDA-enabled Video Cards.

Image
Download the Folding@home GPU client from Stanford's website. Scroll to the bottom of the site and select High Performance Windows Clients.

Image
Download the XP/2003/Vista GPU System tray Client with special viewer for NVIDIA GPU's (installer msi). It works with Windows 7 and 64 bit Windows Operating Systems.

Image
Click on the Installer to start the Installation.

Image
Click "Next" on the Welcome screen.

Image
Read and select "I agree" to the License Agreement, and click "Next".

Image
Click "Next" to start the installation.

Image
Click "Yes" to allow the installer to make changes.

Image
This message confirms Folding@home has been successfully installed. Click "Close".

Image
Start the program. Go to the Start menu, Programs, Folding@home-gpu, and select Folding@home.

Image
Type in your User name and Team number. MaximumPC's team number is 11108.

Image
A F@h protein icon will appear on your taskbar. Right click on it and select any options. Select Display to open the F@h Viewer.

Image

Join Maximum PC's forums to learn more about the project, team, client options, and much more!

Tell me what you need and I can setup the appropriate thread(s) in the folding section.
