They were probably giving shitty advice  .

Solving tech problems isn't always a process of elimination. Considering he didn't give the username or the post, I'm not sure what is going on over there.

That thread is a month old. Funny how he won't post a link to the thread or anything else and own up to who he is and what he said. Just some kid venting is all.

After reviewing our member list, I would suspect I know who it is, based on the time frame he posted over there, etc. He ran around the Free Clinic section telling basically anyone with a motherboard problem to replace their CMOS battery, because it fixed one of his problems, and not really understanding what he was talking about. Consider it a non-issue.

what??? you mean my 8 year old packard bells problems arent the CMOS battery??? WTF.. what do I do with the case of 144 CR2032 batteries I bought now??

I could of replaced the packard bells 3 seized fans, 14 bulging caps, 150 watt PSU with frayed wires, broken IDE header pins and everything for the cost of those batteries

anyway, clicked the link and got this:

Code:
phpBB : Critical Error

Error creating new session

DEBUG MODE

SQL Error : 145 Table './forums/phpbb_sessions' is marked as crashed and should be repaired

INSERT INTO phpbb_sessions (session_id, session_user_id, session_start, session_time, session_ip, session_page, session_logged_in, session_admin) VALUES ('80f018e7ed134ae157993b4525ff8575', -1, 1239796259, 1239796259, '4bdc3a59', 4, 0, 0)

Line : 187
File : sessions.php

maybe he gave some advice on their forum setup and they followed it

That's who I figured

Looks like that website is having issues. Maybe the admin should change out the CMOS battery.

If you are nice to newbs they will always be newbs. Ya gotta make them pay their dues. Heaping scorn and ridicule = dues.

Not really, we all start somewhere, but a newb giving advice is usually A Bad Thing and it should be discouraged.
