I was always looking at old issues via the PDF section, but then BAM I find this. Why can't you just ask Google to send you some PDFs of your own intellectual property and host it on your site and save yourself the trouble of making them yourselves??

Well, at least now I can send people to the May '01 issue about case painting...
Jeez. I never read a lot of those issues, but I agree, how's this legal?

I thought print copyright only lasted for 7 years? That's why they only have the older issues.

EDIT: Apparently I was wrong, but here is some interesting reading on the subject. Although it is from 2005, it does shed some light on the subject.

Yeah, but you would think that MPC would have caught on and asked for some copies, since their own online catalog only goes back to 03, and Google's is '98.

Also, how is it that the two very-first issues have models on the front, and then they're absent for several years until 2002?

Best HOW-TO to appear in MPC is on page 72

We have an agreement with Google on this. That's how it's legal :)

I know, but I'm not asking if it's legal, I wanted to know why you guys are manually uploading all your PDFs when you can just have Google send them up and then make Norm do the busywork of adding descriptions.

It's not quite that easy, the scanned and OCR'd magazines are going into a special Google e-book format. While we could probably get PDFs if we asked, I'd rather post the PDFs that we have that are generated from the original Indesign and Quark files.
