After trying my hand at the guide mentioned in the title, I was unpleasantly surprised to find that, the RAM recommended in the guide is incompatible with a 790i SLI PWM Mobo. I know this is not the recommended mobo, but wth such a slight difference, I figured compatibility wouldn't be a issue. I was wrong. In conclusion, I would just like to recommend to the editors at Maximumpc.com, warn buyers of "similar products".

P.S. great guide

Well I'm sure that the folks at Popular Mechanics don't get any people complaining about their circular saw not cutting a tree even though it's a "similar product" to a Chainsaw...

Since the name of both the magazine and website is MaximumPC, I'm fairly sure that the author assumed the reader to have basic knowledge in internet resources to check compatibility when something stupid was done without the authors foresight.

You can't be too upset that you bought something that wasn't in the guide, when following the guide? You deviated from what list that was already checked for computability.

Then again, why doesn't the memory work? I haven't run into this issue myself.
