Try signing in through the website, not the forum for a few days brb, and let me know how that works.

Interesting! I tried that and so far I've read several threads, replied to a few and everything is working fine.

If this fixes things, what about email notifications? It's the primary way I log in! :?

Edit:

I truly appreciate the time you and your team are spending on this!

Thank you! :D

The reason I clear cookies on a semi-regular basis is that occassionally I frequent...er...certain types of sites that leave tracking cookies etc. on my computer. If clearing these cookies was the problem, then shouldn't I be seeing the threads unmarked right from the start instead of after I read some in a topic? They're marked fine until I actually click on a thread and read it. Then when I back out to go on the the next topic, all further threads are unmarked. Again, if this is a cookie problem then how come I don't experience this at any other forum I frequent? Motherboards.org. soundbytes.org, etc.

Can you clear your cookies and try logging in through the homepage sometime, and report back?

Likewise, anyone who's nuked cookies and logged back in through the homepage, can you let me know how the test worked out?

Testing has concluded. Every day that I logged in through the homepage as you instructed, everything was fine. Every day I logged straight into the forum, I had the cookie monster.

I've been swapping back and forth every day for 10 days now.

IE7 with Pro-addons on this test BTW.

Yep. Logging in through the website seems to work just fine.

Although, tonight I logged in via 'email notification' and everything dated today is marked already. :(

Internet ops has been informed. They're going to figure out how to fix it, and will release the fix when the next round of enhancements and bugfixes comes out to the site. I don't have a schedule on that atm, but it will probably be more than a few days and less than a month.

Came direct to forum tonight (cleaned out cookies this am) and logged in. Problem did not appear until after reading several threads in two different topics. When I say clear cookies I use ff "clear private data" function under tools to clear cookies and offline website data.

Thanks, Will.

I think it is so cool you guys are willing to spend this much time on what must seem like a minor inconvenience!

Again, thank you! :D

One post is sufficent. You don't need to update him every day and tell him that the thing he know's he hasn't fixed, is still broken.

31jul. to 6aug. isn't "every day", but I get your point.

Am I allowed to post a change in the forum's behavior? If so, it's even worse now. No threads marked unread at all right from the start. Topics show unread messages but no threads so marked anywhere. If not, I'm sorry and please don't send minions out to destroy me...

Are you logging in from the home page of the website, or straight into the forum?

Straight into the forum. I don't want to have to go through the website.

I swear to god that I'm going to have you neutered and dropped off in a leaking life raft in the middle of the ocean.

Stop reporting on shit that is known to be broken and potentially won't be fixed. Especially if you refuse to follow the methods that actually work. You're wasting everyone's time.

Logged in through website and eveything works fine!

Will and his team are working on it. Give it time and everything will be right as rain!

I was merely reporting a different behavior than previously observed. And I see logging in via the web site as a waste of MY time.
