I noticed this just after the "Theme" change.

When I first log in, I can see all the posts I haven't read since my last visit. Once I click on a thread to read, I can return to that folder or Forum Index and it looks as though I've read every thread!

I do not have the "Mark All Threads as Being Read" option checked.

Is this something new or could it be on my end?

I've that problem too, except for the first couple forums it works like it should, but for the rest, it will show all the threads as read, even though I haven't even clicked on that forum that session.

I've had the same problem ever since the forum's redesign.

Clear your cookies for *.maximumpc.com

When you log back in, things should be good.

Your old session IDs are confusing the new install of PHPBB on the new server. Get rid of the old IDs and stuff will work fine again.

Mine happened two or so times after the cookie clear on both systems. (Hence the two different versions of FF.)

Frequently, two different versions of Firefox will use the same profile.

In FF3

Tools>Options>Security>Show Cookies. You can then delete individual cookies or all of them.

I have just the opposite problem. I select mark all read, come back several hours later and select read new posts and I find threads where the last post is the same one I read before selecting mark all read earlier.

Hmmm... weird...

I'm still getting the same thing with IE7.

I cleared cookies per SM's recommendation and yet, I'm still seeing posts marked as read (as in *Todays Posts*).

If I spend any time in one folder, the rest of the folders get marked as read. Only *New* posts, during my session, are *un-read*.

Any ideas, guys?

Weird that we have this very same topic in the Moderator's Section...

BRB, you're not alone. I can clear my cache, eat up all the cookies, I can put any browser you name in and direct it to this site...same issue.

I even had an Editor send me a new password. It worked...for a day. I just had to do it again today.

Right now I'm very happy about just posting my password openly on this forum because it won't work for anyone in 5 hours. I've clicked on peoples names and auto-logged to their account, and I've had people in my account.

So there's something very wrong with this place. And it's not cache, IE, or any freaking cookie.

Auto-logging into other people's accounts proves (as you say) that this is not a cookie, setting, or cache issue.

Simply .. you can't cache something you haven't done (logged in as a random user), and you can't have cookies for something you haven't done.

From your descriptions, Chum, it sounds like the forum (not you) is skipping the authentication stage completely. This is bad. Very bad.
