Another great podcast.

I didn't know that about the Vista upgrade license. So basically they take away your XP activation and give you an upgrade license. Does that mean you can't ever reformat because it's an upgrade version? Because that doesn't sound good.

Hey Will, assuming we can all behave ourselves, do you think you'd ever let people Skype in with live questions?

Maybe, but for special occasions... It's really tough to get all the different levels correct, and with people coming in and out it takes a ton of time.

The best thing to do for now is to send your questions in in MP3 format :)

It's a great podcast, I really like the discussion about the green computers and ethernet.

AlthoughI do have one gripe. I liked the previous podcasts better, due to the fact that I could download them and then listen later on with a MP3 player.

Thanks Will. I just have one more question, how can I get my hands on the music that is play during the starting of the podcast?

i just wanted to say that i'm glad you guys found the time to get a podcast online... especially after you did a "How To" a few mags back.

a little constructive criticism - Gordon sounded like he was on a Polycom in a conference room or something. not a big deal since i was easily able to understand his voice... just something i took notice too.

and thanks for the clarifications on the Vista "upgrades". i heard Will briefly mention it on Next-Gen's podcast and this saved me the embarrassment of sending a PM.

Jeremy Williams makes those at home, right? see if he'd give you a copy

Will, thank you for providing these podcasts as all three have made for interesting listening. And since they are free, I really shouldn’t complain ANY, but if you are looking for any "constructive" criticisms..

-Will, I understand as the moderator you need to introduce the topics and keep the conversation moving but, so far it seems as if you are doing MOST of the talking, like 60-70% of it. Kind of defeats the value of having a roundtable chat. Hopefully the discussion can be more evenly distributed among the panelists in the future. Perhaps instead of you bringing all the topics to discuss, each person can have their own topic they can introduce, or have a segment where any panelist can just throw out a topic. Does anyone else know what the topics are before you start the discussion? Will, since you pick the topics, you probably have given them more thought than anyone else so you are more prepared to talk at length on that given topic. Perhaps if everyone was given some time before hand to know the topics so they could have more than just an off-the-cuff response, more insight might be gleamed as well as a more evenly divided discussion.

-Nice to see that the group isn’t going to be static and was good to hear Jon Phillips (still waiting for his next GLITCH) but until I get use to hearing everyone’s voices a few times and since this isn’t a visual medium, it would be nice if Will could identify who is speaking. Maybe it is me but a few of the male voices sound similar so I am spending part of my time wondering WHO is actually talking (Katherine gets exempted from this).

Thanks again for making these available to download. Am sure these podcasts will get better and better over time.

in the first podcast i was confused between Will and Gordon (they sound almost alike - maybe that's why they stuck Gordon in the conference room? - lol) but have since been able to differentiate the two. over time i'm sure you'll be able to distinguish who is who as well.

It's ok. I often confuse Will and Gordon myself. ; )

Love the podcasts guys. Keep it up. It's weird to actually hear your voices, but at the same time cool too.

I was messing around with my TiVo the other night and I came across a podcaster in the TiVo. So I input your podcast and now I can have MaximumPC TiVo style!

This is a great added value to our subscription!
I had no idea that the podcast is here, stumbled on it by an accident.
Maybe you should advertize it all over your magazine.
It's great !
Keep it up guys. :D

Really looking forward to the results of the Dell 22" that was mentioned on the podcast. The discussion on the various Vista licenses was very informative.

Overall, nice job on this podcast (the first one I've listened to). I appreciate the generally minimal BS. One criticism: when you're analyzing Apple's 'libelous' ads vis-a-vis Windows, I think it's helpful to remember that Apple is targeting the huddled masses of Win users...not the Maximum PC demographic. Apple gets a lot of its switcher/adder sales from users who go to an Apple store or a CompUSA and see how easy it is (OOB) to work with photos/music/video, etc...which is what most folks want to do.

So, although I can get more geeky and granular with my XP config, I get more pure enjoyment from actually using my OSX config. So far, I find Vista to be a veritable Bizarro Superman when compared with OSX...think about that analogy for a second.
