Think avatars and badges will stop disappearing randomly?

Also if the badges came back, I still can't see mine.

They seem to be fading in and out, I see my own about half the time. No big deal if everything else works - don't have my Top 500 badge yet

badges are one of the things being worked on. I think they might actually already be fixed.

hrmm, I've seen everyone's for the last day or two... Maybe you need to clear your cache? it might be all banana'd up.

Ok to add more confusion to this. I cleaned my temp files out and now I can't see Will's (I saw his yesterday), but I can see Spider_Monkey's, even though I couldn't see it yesterday. I also still can't see mine

Now I can't see mine and it has been less than a minute! I didn't do anything!

The ones that fail for me look like this for the image URL:

Something's not decoding the URL of the avatars correctly. (browser: Minefield (Firefox) 3.0a3pre)

(I can see will's and SM's, but not hack's badge)

Using an IE based browser, all badges are fine.
Using FF they still are not showing. The only thing I see when using FF is Will's MPC logo

Guys, I went through and fixed a bunch of ranks that had windows slash (\) instead of unix slash (/) and it appears most of them are back.

(No guarantees -- I got some weird 404s, which was our problem before...)

Looks like it worked colby. I can now see my badge in firefox. (I can't see Will's now ). I can also see mostly everyone else's too.

I suspect there is still some randomness to the problem, depending on how you hit the servers. My guess as to working in IE is that it translated the slashes and rendered the images to display them all normally, but you still have the random 404 problem no matter what browser you use. I got a few while I was fixing ranks, and if I reloaded the image a couple of times it would actually come in.

So, between IE and Firefox and random problems, the truth lies somewhere in the middle

I can't believe they didn't address that in the FF v.2 release....

I built an entire website a few years ago with the slashes backwards. I learned about that one the hard way. lol

For me any one with "Kick ass" or "Maximum PC" above their name, except Will, is double exposed and offset up or down. This messes up the avatars also. Has been like that for a while. ymmv


Edit; Just noticed this at another site with their in house gifs at the beginning of each post. Must be something with my FF.
