Anyone try to surf the net with a Remote Desktop connection?

MS's Remote Desktop somehow demands that every image fully loads before you can do anything.

This means that you must load every Goddamn frame of every Goddamn ad BEFORE you can even think of scrolling down.

Do you guys know how long that takes on a Remote Desktop Connection over a 364Kbps DSL Uplink?

TOO DAMN LONG!

The ads must die!

On the other hand, browsers blocking ads of any kind is creating a problem. The internet is paid for in large part by ads. Take away the ads, how does the internet keep running?

The same thing is happening with TV and DVR/PVR's. People are skipping the advertizements, and now companies are resorting to putting their ads in the TV shows in order to sell their whares.

Have you not heard of popular TV shows where they suddenly go see a movie and then talk about it? Only problem is, the show was paid Millions to include that movie as part of the script.

If suddenly FF and Opera start blocking ALL ads by default, it could very well be the end of the Internet as we know it.

Why on earth are you doing that?

Do you have SBC DSL in your area?

$17/month for 1.5Mbps down / 384Kbps up

$22/month for 1.5-3.0Mbps down / 384-512Kbps up

Note that the 3Mbps version isn't available in all areas, but tecnically neither is the 1.5Mbps.

I think my sister has fiber between her and SBC, so she can't get DSL :(

Oh yeah, if you get this and Local and Long distance you save $10 a month on your phone bill for the package. :)

I'm off a fiber lead from comcast, and SBC didn't invest in where I live...

Sucks that you don't have SBC in your area. :(

SBC is planning on bringing FTTN (Fiber To The Node) and vDSL (Very Fast DSL) to the home for about 18 Million homes in the USA.

We're talking about up to 25Mbps down, IPTV (Internet Protocol TV), and VOIP for about $100 a month.

That includes dozens of TV channells in High-Def on all TV(s) and your PC(s), and all your local and long distance telephone. :D

Video-On-Demand as well. :)

Those days are long past me. A better solution is to stay away from pop and junk food, and just give your face a good scrub 2-3 times a day with regular soap.

Again the kvetching about ads. If the company that owns MPC doesn't make a zillion dollars every day, they'll shut the mag down. It isn't the mag's fault, it is the mag owners. Like most big-shot businessmen, they don't care what they sell, they just want the bucks. Find out who they are, then bitch at them.

As a few have said before me, "no big deal". Or did you guys sprain your mouse finger? :D

WOW.
Thanks all, I didn't even NOTICE the banners until I read this thread...
That's what I get for reading threads.

No more reading of threads. I will arbitrarily post asinine replies from this point forward I swear to Teddy Bear!

Actually the ads are rather annoying...I only dial up at 28.8K with no option for anything faster at this point...and the ads take noticeably longer to load the page. However i'm gonna try the adblocker thing and see what happens. It's just rather disappointing to see that MaxPC has to use ads....that's all.

Glad I don't weigh 400 pounds, otherwise I would need to click on this ad.
