Are they open source. phpBB is both open source and well supported. And widely used with therefor almost no learning curve. On top of that, exporting a board this size would be a huge undertaking.

Actually, they both offer simple programs that take all the posts, users, etc on a phpbb board and transfer them to the new boards. I have some experience in both and I like the vbulletin setup but it seems IPB has a stronger modding community.

IPB is much sweeter, but not free.

Meh.

MPC having a forum that is not free = more ads

ads = bad

the boards work fine... just let it go... besides, there is WAY to much to export to a new board... there are years of posts... that would be murder on whom ever got tasked with that job.

phpbb is by far the surperior of the 3 major board scripts

i have used them all and phpbb is the most flexible and overall easy to use

less useless clutter = good

You make it sound like MPC cannot afford $185?

Ok, that's settled, but just for discussion what exactly would make vb or ipb better for us users? I follow one site that uses vb and really can't see that it is better, or worse. Details please, or a link to someplace that has details.

what the hell is it to that guy anyway?
were his 10 posts such a chore on phpbb that he needs to have it changed to suit his tastes? get over it, if you don't like it, don't post here.

Someone with 5 minutes of experience on ANY forum format does not get to have an opinion.

If you're not going to give it a shot, leave. I had to get use to it too, but now it is my preferred format.

So, yes. You are right. People with a low global experience on this format get to have ZERO opinions.
