Why arent login passwords sent encrypted?

The forum is not of that level of security. Its not needed. If you are worried, just change yours.

This is an open view area (with few exceptions). Passwording accounts is more for management than security.

Though, I am sure that within the system there is encryption. Or the phpBB would be a hackers playground.

You will also notice that the logon is not https:.

and in the mysql, the passwords are hiiden. Not even the mods can know/see ur password. They only thing they can do with it is reset it.

well I was using a little network sniffer on my server just for fun and pretty much the only unencrypted password is that of my maximumpc login. just thought it was strange.

I know of a lot of forums that don't encrypt their passwords.

That's why I use a unique one for MaxPC. :D Try it, it's "penisface."

That's not true. You just have to know where to look. For example, I got everyone's password and IP address off your forum back before D-Day.

and even if passwords are saved in hash there are more then enough password decoders for just about every kind of encryption.
